Assignment 2 for quantity surveying course

Assignment 2 for Quantity Surveying: (Last day of submission for both Section A and B is 3 Oct 2012)

SECTION A:

Find the rates per cubic meter for the following items using delhi schedule of rates 2012 (available at https://sites.google.com/site/civilsharda2010/downloads-1). Also compare your rates from the given rate in DSR 2012,

a)Pointing on brick work with cement mortar 1:3 (1cement : 3 fine sand) : Flush / Ruled/ Struck or weathered pointing

b) Cement concrete in foundation 1:5:10 (1 cement : 5 coarse sand : 10 graded stone aggregate
40 mm nominal size)


c)  R.C.C. work in Beams, slabs etc (1:2:4) 

d) I class brickwork in superstructure with modular bricks with 1:6 cement sand mortar


SECTION B: 

Find the rates per cubic meter or sq. meter for the following items using delhi schedule of rates 2012 (available at https://sites.google.com/site/civilsharda2010/downloads-1). Also compare your rates from the given rate in DSR 2012,

a)  12 mm plastering 1:6

b) Cement concrete flooring 1:2:4 (1 cement : 2 coarse sand : 4 graded
stone aggregate) finished with a floating coat of neat cement, including
cement slurry,  40 mm thick with 20 mm nominal size stone aggregate


c)  White washing with lime New work (three or more coats)

d)  Providing and laying damp-proof course 40 mm thick with cement concrete
1:2:4 (1 cement : 2 coarse sand : 4 graded stone aggregate 12.5 mm
nominal size)

Env Engg-II presentations

The class presentations for Environmental Engineering-II will be conducted as per the following schedule:

The Project report can be submitted by Oct 10 (Sec A) and Oct 15 (Sec B).

The project report should not be more than 20 pages.

Summer training evaluation schedule

Here are the dates for summer training evaluation:

Sept 15: 90107001-90107048, 049-099 (both groups need to report at 9 am in morning)

Summer training evaluation starting this Saturday

The summer training evaluation will start from this Saturday, Sept. 15.
The schedule of groups will be updated soon. Two groups are confirmed to be evaluated on Saturday and Sunday.

You are required to come prepared with your presentation (of 10 minutes duration). Your training diary and technical report will be provided to the examiner.

Summer Training Viva Exam

The Summer Training will be evaluated in next 1 week (the exact dates will be intimated shortly).
The breakup of marks will be as follows:

Diary: 50 marks
Technical Report: 100 marks
Technical Presentation: 50 marks
Viva-Voce:  100 marks

You are all required to prepare a technical presentation (ppt) of about 10 minutes duration.
The groups have been divided as follows:

G 1: 001-038
G2: 039-081
G3: 082-120
G4: 122-156
G5: 158-822

The evaluation will be on Individual basis, so every student has to prepare a separate presentation.

Q.2 Design the interior panel of a flat slab with panel size 6m X 6m supported by columns of size 500 X 500 mm. provide suitable drop. Live load 4KN/sqm
Q.3 A flat slab system consists of 5m X 6m panels and it carries a live load of 4KN/sqm and finishing load 1KN/sqm. Size of column is 450mm diameter and floor to floor height is 4.5m. Calculate design moments in interior and exterior panels and also in column and middle strips in both directions
Q4 Design the exterior panel of flat slab of size 6m X 6m with Suitable drop to support a live load of 5KN/sqm The floor system is supported by columns of size 400 X 400 mm floor to floor distance is 3.6m

Presentation for Quantity Surveying course

Presentation for quantity surveying course will be conducted as per the following dates :

Section A - 15 Sep 2012  Time : 10 AM onward

Section B - 29 Sep 2012  Time : 10 AM onward

Ideally it should be individual presentation. However you can make team of 2-3 members. Maximum number of students in a team should not exceed 3. Your group members should be from same section. For example if you are in section A then group members should be from Section A and vice versa. Evaluation for presentation will be done and attendance is mandatory. If you are absent then marks will be deducted accordingly. The presentation should be 10-15 minute duration.
You are free to choose any of the topic mentioned below. Presentation on the same topic by different teams cannot be same. If it is found that any other presentation is similar to yours, it will result into losing of marks for all the teams having similar presentation.

EVALUATION SCHEME

understanding of fundamentals, demonstrates insight into leading edge of

Assignment of Adv RCC CVL 401

Q.1 Clear dimension of a staircase hall is 3mX 6m; floor to floor height is 3.60m. A two flight stair is to be provided. Design the overall geometry of stairs.
Q.2 Use the same geometry, design the stairs. The stair is used inside a public building. The landing slab is in the same direction as the stair slab and is supported by the walls at their ends.
Q.3 A stair with an open well consists of two flights and a span partly crossing at right angle. There are 12 steps of rise 150mm , tread 300mm in each flight and 6 steps in cross span. Width of landing and stair is 1.150m. the landings are to be supported on the walls at the ends. Design the stair slab
