Class Test - CVL013: Design of Prestressed Concrete

There will be a class test for CVL013: Design of Prestressed Concrete course on 01-03-2013 (Friday). There won't be any retest. The schedule of the test is specified below.

• Section A - 08.45 - 09.40
• Section B - 09.40 - 10.35

The test will include the following topics:

• Losses in Prestress
• Analysis of section for flexure

ETE form filling: Last chance

For those students who have not been able to fill the ETE form, last chance is given for completing this work on February 22, 2013.

The students should complete the process on February 22, 2013, after which the link will be withdrawn and no application shall be entertained.

CVL 013: Design of Prestressed Concrete - Assignment #01

The deadline for submitting the Assignment #01 is postponed to 25-02-2013.
10 marks will be awarded for the assignment. Late submission will attract deduction of one mark for each day.

The assignment should be sent by email (ruban.sugumar@sharda.ac.in).
As already announced, copying is strictly not allowed.

Project meeting with Dr. Gaurav

All the groups registered under the guidance of Dr. Gaurav Saini for their final year project are required to meet him in person by Feb 25, failing which the guidance will no longer continue and the students will be required to find alternate guides.
The groups will report on the progress till date and also submit a detailed timeline for timely and successful completion of the work. They will also be required to decide on a 1-hr slot for a weekly meeting with Dr. Gaurav.

Refresher course in Structures

The depart is planning to start a refresher course in basic Structure courses, including Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials (SOM or MODS) and Structural Analysis. The course will cover the basics and key concepts from these courses. The classes will be held once or twice a week (between Mon-Fri) and there will be no exam/credit for this course.

All the interested students are required to submit their names to their respective class representatives, who will in turn submit the names to Prof. Satyaprakash. The deadline for submission of names is Fri, Feb 22.

Since it is a voluntary effort on part of the department, it is expected that the participants will maintain a healthy classroom, including regular attendance (>80% of the interested participants will have to attend the classes) and discipline.

Project internal Marks breakup and Important deadlines

After today's round of presentations it was observed that most of you are not taking the project work seriously. The project carries 8 credits and is the most important part of your B Tech degree. We have decided on the Internal Marks Breakup and important deadlines to monitor your progress through the term. If you fail to meet any of the deadlines, you will lose all the marks assigned for that activity.

Total Marks: 100 (Internal) + 100 (External) = 200

You are all required to meet with your project guide at least once a week, as per your guide's schedule. The mutually agreed meeting time needs to be intimated to either Prof. Satyaprakash/Dr. Gaurav Saini/Mrs. Meenu Kalra. The guide will submit a monthly progress report of each group under his/her guidance, which will be the basis of 10% of your total marks.                  

 

AutoCAD training

Due to the AutoCAD competition being organised by Sharda Univ and ICI Student chapter, the scheduled classes of AutoCAD training programme shall not be held on 16th Feb, 2013 (Saturday).

However, the classes shall be held on 17th Feb, 2013 (Sunday) as per the schedule i.e., 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Those who wish to register themselves for the AutoCAD classes may also get it done on Sunday. After this week no registration shall be allowed.

AutoCAD design competition is being organised at Sharda University on 16 Feb 2013. It is being organized in collaboration with Indian Concrete Institute (ICI).
