This is a group for the staff and students of Civil Engineering students of 2009 at Sharda University. The blog is meant for communication between the students and the faculty. Although it is one way (faculty to students) now, but we may extend the same to two-way communication. For any comments, write to me at satya.prakash@sharda.ac.in

For "Prestressed Concrete" Backlog Students
ASSIGNMENT 1
NOTE: Submit it by 02/07/13 i.e. by next Monday. A small viva will be taken during the individual submission.
Q1.
Please explain all the losses in Prestressing with their derivations & formulas.
Explain with the help of examples & diagrams.
Q2.
A simply supported beam with a cross-section as shown in Figure spans 15 m and carries a total uniformly distributed load, including self weight, of 50 kN/m. Determine the stress distribution at midspan If the beam is prestressed with a force of 2000 kN acting at following locations
a. Exactly at the centroid,
b. An eccentricity, e of 200 mm below the centroid.
where, a = 750 mm, b = 750 mm, c = 100 mm, d = 100 mm, h = 1000 mm.
