List of Survey Assignments

Below are the list of all assignments for the paper "Basics of Surveying" given till date. The last date for submission is 28th Nov, 2010. No assignment shall be accepted after 28th Nov, 2010.

#1> Prepare a 1000 word document on the “Evolution of Surveying”
#2> Prepare a document on establishment of control points in India
#3> Define 1 acre using Gunter’s Chain
#4> An old map was drawn to a scale of 1cm=10m. Field was surveyed with a 30m chain which was 5cm too long. An original length of 10cm has now shrunk to 9.75cm on the plan. The plan area measured with planimeter is 97.03cm2. Calculate the actual area of the land in hectares.
#5> The area of a field was measured from a plan drawn to a scale of 3 chains to 1 cm and found to be 19.2 ha. Wrongly a scale of 4 chains to 1 cm was used in scaling the plan. Find the true area of the field.
#6> What are Isogonic and Agonic lines
Identify five places in India, from where the “Agonic” lines passes
#7> Short note (about 500 words) on “Magnetic Pole Reversal”. Find out the bearing and azimuth of lines OX, OY and OZ w.r.t True North and Magnetic North. Assume magnetic declination as 20deg. (Figure is available in the slide).
#8>Find out the included angle and reduced bearings if the bearings are,
At A: 1100
At B: 1700
At C: 250
At D: 3100
At E: 2100
